Single Core XLPE Insulated Power Cable Construction

Single core Cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable is a type of XLPE insulated Power Cable. The main parts of our single core Cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable are conductor, insulation, and outer sheath. Depending on the application requirements, some custom single core XLPE cables may also have a conductor screen, insulation screen, metallic screen, and an armor layer.

  • Conductor: copper conductor or aluminum conductor. Stranded conductor or flexible conductor.
  • Conductor Screen: Extruded semi-conductive layer applied over the cable conductor.
  • Insulation: XLPE insulation. Maximum permissible long-term temperature 90℃.
  • Insulation Screen: Extruded semi-conductive layer directly applied over the insulation layer.
  • Metallic Screen: Main materials are copper and aluminum. Can be type of tape or wire.
  • Outer Sheath: PVC outer sheath or PE outer sheath.

Types by Conductor Material

The conductor material of single core Cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable is copper (Cu) or aluminum (AL). Copper conductor has superior electrical conductivity. While aluminum conductor single core XLPE cable is light-weight and more cost-effective.

Types by Armor

Our OEM single core Cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable can be an unarmored XLPE cable or an armored XLPE cable. The armor shall be made of non-magnetic materials. The common armor type is Aluminum Wire Armour (AWA)
